Alcohol Counselling / Support
As a result of many of us becoming a little more used to using video-calling services during the pandemic, as well as in-person counselling, I have been able to offer addiction counselling and support more widely to people living outside of my local area.
I can now offer alcohol counselling:
- in-person in NW5 London (socially-distanced)
- by video call
- by telephone
I can also offer alcohol support (during detox / reduction / moderate drinking):
- by video call
- by telephone
- using WhatsApp or other messaging services
If you have a problem with alcohol and you want to talk about your use, we can arrange an initial session in-person, by video or telephone to assess your situation and your needs. To enquire about this, please complete the contact form below.
There are too many possible scenarios for me to outline here because people’s drinking patterns, problems and personal situations vary so much, but an initial assessment in-person, by video-call or telephone, will help me get a better sense of what your problem looks like, what you want to do about it, and give you an idea of what I can do to help you.
It may be that you can’t safely reduce or detoxify from your alcohol use because it is too heavy and you risk experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms, known as delirium tremens or DTs, which in some cases can be fatal. In this case, we would be cautious and I could advise you on getting medical support from private or local NHS-funded services to get you the appropriate care.
Alcohol Counselling and Support is aimed at those who are
- over-drinking
- dependent on drinking
- binge-drinking
- drinking to cope
- using alcohol and cocaine together
- preparing to undertake a detox (with medical support from a regulated medical practitioner or service)
...with the intention of:
- detoxing
- abstaining in the short term or indefinitely
- moderating or controlling their alcohol use.
